800,000 on ’sicknote’ benefits for more than 10 years

Nearly a third of people claiming ’sicknote’ benefits have been doing so for more than a decade, new figures showed yesterday. More than 800,000 people have been paid Incapacity Benefit or similar state handouts for illness for more than ten years. High Gas Prices: The Environments Best Friend

Are you driving less than you used to? As Dubner blogged last week, Americans logged 11 billion fewer miles on the road in March of this year than they did in March 2007. That contributed to a cut of 9 million metric tons of carbon dioxide emitted by the U.S. in the first quarter of 2008.

GM Says Americans Won’t Give Up SUVs, But They’ll Plug Them

Bob Lutz says the future of the automobile can be summed up in two words: Proportion and propulsion. That’s a snappy way of saying big cars aren’t going anywhere, but at least they’ll be electric.

I think it rather funny to hear the obsolete logic of some environmetnalists from the 70's, who feel that only small is efficient and that we must be efficient to amange. Both concepts are fraud - an electric car's efficiency depends…
