Will Discovery of Mars Water Lead to Terraforming?

White material was uncovered by the Phoenix Lander remote robot digger arm, the most amazingly ultra-tech bucket and spade ever to exist.

ummm…can't they test for water? i mean they have sophisticated equipment on this Mars lander. surely they can do more than “guess it was water” cuz it's not there any more. if i were being scientific, i would have to eliminate…

Ice on Mars an important breakthrough

The prospect that life did once exist, still exists and could be sustained in the future on Mars has taken a huge step forward with the confirmation that water ice has been found on the planet.

Those missions found Mars to be a harsh, dry and sterile place, but more recent and contrasting evidence has enabled the prospect of life on Mars to grow into a mainstream theory among planetary scientists.

Low Leptin Levels Undermine Successful Weight Loss

Individuals who are obese are at increased risk of many diseases, including type 2 diabetes and heart disease. As 75%-95% of previously obese individuals regain their lost weight, many researchers are interested in developing treatments to help individuals maintain their weight loss.

They observed that activity in these regions of the brain in response to visual food-related cues changed after an obese individual successfully lost weight. However, these changes in brain activity were not observed if the obese individual…

Martian Skies - The Big Picture - Boston.com

What more do we know about Mars' atmosphere? It's hundreds of times thinner than Earth's atmosphere and is made of 95% carbon dioxide, 3% nitrogen, 1.6% argon, and contains traces of oxygen, water, and methane. There are an amazing number of six current live probes exploring Mars. However, only a few show atmospheric phenomena. Here are some of them

Where are the stars? The background should be full of stars very crystal clear and numbering in the billions. Why does NASA like to blackout the stars? What are they hiding?

“Perfect Evidence” ICE on Mars!

“It must be ice,” said Phoenix Principal Investigator Peter Smith of the University of Arizona, Tucson. “These little clumps completely disappearing over the course of a few days, that is perfect evidence that it’s ice. There had been some question whether the bright material was salt. Salt can’t do that.”

Mars team ponders whether lander sees ice or salt

Is the white stuff in the Martian soil ice or salt? That’s the question bedeviling scientists in the three weeks since the Phoenix lander began digging into Mars’ north pole region to study whether the arctic could be habitable.

New photos showed the exposed bright substance present only in the top part of the trench, suggesting it's not uniform throughout the excavation site. Phoenix will take images of the trench dubbed “Dodo-Goldilocks” over the next…

Mars Lander Can Move Arm Now, Probably Just Slept On It Wrong

It shouldn't have been arm wrestling before landing.

@Tonicboy: Ah the internet, the place where it's hard to tell what the hell people mean exactly. I mean you could just be insulting me here, or you could just be sharing a laugh which is more or less what I intended anyway. Of course I could…

Why Indy 4 went digital

AP article on the digital FX work ILM did for Crystal Skull. 450 effects shots in an Indiana Jones movie. And all the time and money they put into it, and it still looks sub-par and worse than the first 3. Thanks, George Lucas.

That is if your reality includes a blooming atomic mushroom cloud, seemingly endless Area 51 warehouse, vicious monkey army, the City of Gold, thousands of man-eating ants and sundry otherworldly things. All those locales and critters were…
